We met again at Houge Park this month. It was a pleasant day under the trees.

The meeting began and the Treasurer gave her report. We currently have 31 paid members.

Lambtown registration is now open for Sheep to Shawl and Skeins & Textiles

For those who are entering items in the Santa Clara County Fair, drop off is 7/19 which is our meeting day. Kelly has offered to gather items and drop them off at the fair for those who can’t make it.

Show and Tell:

Kelly shared a finished crochet Christmas cowl and crochet mitts and matching scarf from her hand spun.

Laura was wearing a beautiful sweater made from Noro singles yarn. She also shared colorful balls of roving that she dyed to spin for sock yarn.

Rachel won first place for her handspun knitted sweater in the San Mateo County Fair. Go Rachel! She also got ribbons for a cute skeleton woven scarf. She also passed around another fun emotional support chicken.

Gail wore a gorgeous hand woven shirt.

Marcia passed around a cute crochet animal she made for her grandchildren. She also shared a handspun skein.

Melanie shared her first ever knitted beanie! She also showed off a pretty crochet scarf for her mom and another fun monthly crochet square for May.

Leta shared some squishy handspun skeins.

This month we met at Houge Park in San Jose as History Park was not available. It was quite a windy day but there was a large turnout.

Aviva asked for volunteers for new guild officers: president, treasurer, secretary/note taker, webmaster, park liaison. She will send an email out to the guild so everyone can have the opportunity.

Lynn Curry is coordinating an informal Sheep to Shawl at this year’s Santa Clara County Fair July 30-Aug 3. She will send out an email with details as it gets closer. She also is encouraging everyone to enter one or more items in the Monterey, Santa Cruz, or Santa Clara County fairs.

Marjorie will keep us informed with Lambtown 2025 happenings.

Show And Tell:

Laura shared some very colorful socks from handspun.

Rachel showed off a gorgeous knitted sweater that she will be entering in the fair.

Sage is close to finished another Spincycle sweater.

Marcia shared a knitted emotional support chicken, Pikachu, and cute flower bookmarks for her grandchildren.

Stephanie passed around squishy finished handspun skeins, a knitted hat, and a yarn crawl cowl.

Kelsey shared a beautiful hand woven scarf from Morocco.

Melanie shared a fun seasonal crochet panel from a calendar blanket and showed off her 2nd ever knitted project – a Sophie scarf!

Kelly brought a new-to-her tiny double drive wheel, a hand sewing scrunchie made from her eco printed fabric, and a coiled rope basket made from strips of saris.

Lizzie passed around a soft finished handspun skein.

The meeting took place indoors this month due to the chilly temps. It was a modest turn out.

The Treasurer gave her report. We currently have 30 paid members.

April 19 is Hidden Villa’s sheep shearing in Los Altos Hills and we are invited to come demo spinning. It is great fun and a lovely setting. If you are interested please contact Christine Emmett, christina.c.emmett@gmail.com.

Show And Tell

Aviva was busy knitting a hat with fiber from Portland.

Sage was working on a Shifty cardigan.

Marjorie was spinning embroidery thread on a spindle.

Stephanie shared a hand spun, hand woven scarf along with 3 gorgeous finished skeins.

Rachel showed off a few of her 6 knitted emotional support chickens. She also shared a very cute granny square vest.

Carole shared a skein of spun mohair and a cowl made with her first hand spun.

Brenda was busy knitting.

Nancy wore a sweater with a knitted shamrock (she made one for her grandson, too!).

Laura shared some beautiful hand woven yardage.

Kelly shared finger less mitts from hand spun.

Alita was spinning Greenwood fiber on her e-spinner.

Kelsey was spinning alpaca from Lambtown.

Frank was spindle spinning.

Courtney was busy processing cotton for the first time.

Ron was wearing knitted sock with pockets!

This month there were lots of freebies up for grabs! By the end of the meeting all were spoken for.

The Treasurer gave her report. Currently we have 27 paid members.

New News

A huge “thank you!” goes out to Ron and Laurel for recovering, working on, and finishing our website! It is very much appreciated!

Consider starting a project to enter in this year’s Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County, and/or Monterey County Fairs. You can enter in one or all. The same item can be used.

Lynn is coordinating a spinning and weaving demo for this year’s Santa Clara County Fair. Also up for consideration is a non-competitive Sheep To Shawl. The dates are August 2 and 3.

The Guild has funds for a class or workshop should anyone have any ideas.

Show and Tell

Marjorie showed off her beautiful knitted dress that she has been working on for 12 months! It’s scrappy and fun and made from her and her mom’s hand spun.

Alida shared her first ever skein of hand spun. Yay! She also shared a finished knitted sweater.

Cookie shared 2 colorful belts she made on her backstrap loom.

Alishka passed around her first ever skein of hand spun! Another yay! It was a 3-ply all done on her drop spindle.

Nancy was wearing a sweater she knitted from unraveled yarn and had stitched on a cute knitted heart for Valentine’s Day.

Kelsey was wearing one of her knitted sweaters and shared a pretty skein of rambouillet.

Aviva passed around a finished sweater made from 3-ply hand spun from wool she got in New Zealand in 1988.

Sage was wearing a Spincycle sweater and shared squishy skeins spun woolen.

Melanie was wearing a cute crochet scarf and passed around a finished skein of polworth and silk.

Kelly was wearing her 3rd crochet hexagon sweater and passed around a bright chain-plied skein.

Laura shared finished skeins of Meridian Jacobs fiber.

Carol shared a skein of jacob soon to be a sweater.

Rachel shared many small granny squares for a vest and an in-process emotional support chicken.
